Disrupting Assumptions: Veil, Divorce, and Women’s Agency in Islam
Join us for lunch and a discussion of the dynamics of women’s agency in Islam and the law through a critical examination of contemporary controversies around the veil and women’s personal status in several Muslim contexts, including Turkey and Malaysia. Diane Moore, Founding Director of the Religious Literacy Project at HDS, will lead the discussion and introduce the newly-launched Religion, Conflict, and Peace Initiative and upcoming J-term travel opportunities.
Part of the ILSP-LSC Workshop Series on Gender, Law, and Society. Co-sponsored by the Religious Literacy Project (HDS) and the Human Rights Program.
Lunch will be served.
