Application Timeline for Summer Fellowships

The 2021 HRP summer fellowship application can be found on the International Legal Studies website. Those who are applying to the Chayes Summer Fellowship will be considered for HRP’s fellowship if they choose.

Step One:

December – January: Students interested in applying for HRP’s Summer Internship Program can meet with Tyler Giannini, HRP and Clinic Co-Director, or meet with another advisor by emailing Dana Walters.

Students should begin looking for host human rights organizations and contact organizations in which they are interested, in order to explore whether there is a fit between their interests and skills and the organization’s needs.

Step Two:

December – January: Apply to host human rights organizations. Students are encouraged to update HRP on the organizations they are contacting, and discuss their proposals with her before they submit a fellowship application.

Step Three:

February: DEADLINE to submit application forms to International Legal Studies is February 1, 2021. This will include signing up for an interview.

Step Four:

February: Applicants will be interviewed between Feb. 3-5.

Step Five:

March: DEADLINE to apply for HLS Summer Public Interest Funding with the HLS Student Financial Services Office (1Ls and 2Ls only; application opens in late January). See the JD Student Financial Services Office website for details.

Step Six:

March: Notification of HRP fellowship awards will be sent to applicants. Final award of grant is contingent upon the student securing an approved placement.
