Join Amnesty International, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), and the Human Rights Program (HRP) Harvard Law School for a timely and urgent conversation on the state of civic space in Ethiopia and the broader regional implications of shrinking freedoms across Africa.

This webinar will bring together legal experts, grassroots activists, journalists, and human rights defenders to unpack the proposed amendments to Ethiopia’s CSO Proclamation and explore how similar laws are being used across the continent to silence dissent and restrict democratic participation.

This is a critical moment for civil society in the region and beyond. As governments increasingly use legal and administrative tools to suppress independent voices, this event offers a platform for solidarity, strategy-sharing, and collective action. Whether you’re a civil society actor, academic, journalist, donor, or concerned citizen, your voice and engagement are vital. We look forward to your participation.

This event is co-sponsored by Amnesty International, The Human Rights Program at Harvard Law School, and The Committee to Protect Journalists.
