The way we design and build our technology can have significant global political, social, and human rights ramifications. Technology can be a tool for liberatory action or a tool for oppression – and communities who are most impacted by the harms of technology are also the ones least consulted. Join us for a conversation with Afsaneh Rigot to discuss her Design from the Margins methodology for a design process that centers the most impacted and marginalized users for better and more justice focused technology. She will also discuss her research and advocacy with queer communities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) as a guiding force in some of the most unique safety and privacy changes to tech in recent years. Kendra Albert, Clinical Instructor at the Cyberlaw Clinic at Harvard Law School, will moderate the discussion.
