Join us for a discussion with Sari Bashi, Executive Director of the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel (PCATI), on Israel’s new Death Penalty for Terrorists Law. Passed by the Israeli Knesset in March 2026, the law establishes specialized military tribunals to try Palestinians suspected of participating in the October 7, 2023 attacks and to impose death sentences. The discussion will examine concerns that these proceedings risk becoming show trials, with convictions potentially resting on confessions obtained through torture. The conversation will be moderated by Daniel Levine-Spound, Lecturer on Law and Clinical Instructor at Harvard Law School’s International Human Rights Clinic.
Lunch will be provided.
This event is sponsored by the Julis-Rabinowitz Program on Jewish and Israeli Law, the Human Rights Program, and the Program on Law and Society in the Muslim World at Harvard Law School.
